தலைவலியும் காய்ச்சலும் தனக்கு வந்தால்தானே தெரியும்… ஆண்மையுடன் பிறந்த திமிர் கொண்ட சங்கரைப் போன்றவர்களுக்கு ஆண்மை சில காலமாவது இல்லாமல் இருந்தால் நிச்சயம் சமூகம் திருநங்கைகளை மட்டுமே முதலில் போற்றும்… பள்ளி, கல்லூரி, விடுதி, உடன் பிறந்தவர்கள், உறவினர்கள், தெருக்களில் இருப்போரின் அந்தவொரு கேவலமான பார்வையை, புடை சூழும் கிண்டலை தாங்கிக்கொள்ள முடியாமல் உள்ளுக்குள்ளே அழுது அழுது நரகத்தின் நடுவே வாழ்பவர்களும் சரி, தனித்து தமது சமூகத்துடன் திருநங்கை, நம்பிகளானாலும் சரி மனிதர்கள்தான்… ம்னதளவில் உண்மையான ஆண்கள்தான்… பெண்கள்தான் என்பதை எப்போது இந்த சமூகம் உணரப் போகிறது எங்களை படைத்த ஆண்டவரே…..

What a powerful letter! I have to say i agree with every single point. Even I was appalled at such an offensive portrayal of transwomen in the movie, I was even more ashamed when some of my own acquaintances laughed for the supposed jokes. Shankar was one of my favorite directors, until he decided to so unabashedly portray such offensive scenes. I also wonder how Vikram and AR Rahman and such big names did not raise any objection to this. After all there was no story value attached to such a track. Transgenders can be portrayed as a villain , negative character or with wrong shades in a movie.. after al its just a movie. But the respect that has to be given to them. Has to be given. Should not used those terms which indicates trangenders in future.

மிகவும் துயரத்தை தரும் எழுத்து. இவர்கள் எல்லோரும் ஆண்குறிபெருமித மையவாதத்தை தாண்டாத கேடுகெட்டவர்கள். இத்தகைய படங்கள் மிகவும் கண்டணத்திற்கு உரியது. இதற்கு எதிரா எந்த தமிழ் எழுத்தாள இலக்கியவாதிகளும் வெகுண்டெழ மாட்டார்கள். குறைந்தபட்சம் மக்களிடம்கூட கொண்டு செல்ல மாட்டார்கள்.

Transgender protest is not about this I movie only. It is about historic portrayal of them as unwanted elements by Kollywood in the society.

Usually entertainment industry will be the champion of civil rights and opposing discrimination. In Tamil Nadu, it is the entertainment industry which encourages the discrimination. Shankar showed his lack of emphathy in a important social issue by this movie.

The scene were Vikram, Santham mocks Osma in the intro scene was really pathetic. Imagine some south Indian mocked as Idli, Sambhar in a Bollywood movie or Indian mocked as Tandoori chicken in Hollywood movie ? Hell would have broke loose right ? Then why this marginalization against transgenders ?

சமூகத்தால் ஓரங்கட்டப்பட்டுள்ள பாலினம் இவ்வாறு திரைபடங்களில் காட்சிப் பொருளாவதும், கேலி/ கிண்டலுக்கு உள்ளாவதும் கண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டியது. திரைப்படத்துறையினர் இனிமேலாவது சமுதாயப் பொறுப்புடன் படங்களை எடுக்கப் பணிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.
