Dear Ms Anjali Gopalan,
Greetings from Chicago! Congratulations on being added to the Times 2012 list. Heard a lot about Naz and your distinct service to the LGBT community against tremendous odds. I hope to meet you someday when I visit India or if you fly down to this part of the world. In a country like India where half our citizens are reeling in poverty, misgovernance and other countless serious issues, few would even choose to serve the cause of sexual minorities and for this ‘We’ Thank you. I hope your work serves as an inspiration for budding activists in the sub-continent who will take the next steps in educating the public and helping reach milestones like employment non-discrimination, equal opportunity housing etc. Here in Chicago, my friends and I run a fully volunteer based not for profit LGBT organization for creating space and visibilty for people of south asian origin. Please let us know if there is anything we can do and we will try our best. Once again, Congratulations !!!
