We, the transgender women of Tamil Nadu, are continually subjected to both overt and indirect discrimination in almost all social platforms. We suffer from the physical violence and psychological harm caused by this discrimination.

We believe that reservation in education and employment is the only solution to this situation. To advocate for reservation, we are conducting a state-wide protest on 17 August, 2015, at 3 pm at Valluvar Kottam, Chennai.

Our demands are as follows:

• Reservation quotas and priority for transgender people to be included in education and employment opportunities.
• Immediate implementation of the Supreme Court vs National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) judgment of 2014, with some modifications.
• Inclusion of transgender women in the Women’s Welfare Schemes implemented by the Tamil Nadu State Government

We invite transwomen, organisations working for the welfare of transwomen, activists, students and members of the general public who are supportive of this cause, to attend this protest.
